Fall 2024 · One Section; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 01:00 PM - 02:20 PM
This is an introductory course in financial accounting emphasizing accounting and financial reporting for users external to a business (shareholders, creditors, analysts, and the general public). Financial reporting uses a standard set of financial statements to communicate information, so the objective of the course is to provide you with a basic understanding of the use, preparation, and interpretation of financial statements. AFM 101 is a prerequisite to AFM 102 Introduction to Managerial Accounting. Managerial accounting focuses on providing financial information to assist managers in the operation of the business. Managerial accounting focuses on financial information for insiders; financial accounting focuses on reporting to external parties.
